Choose it light and sturdy, choose it soft and strong. It would be the one to take the first step of the pilgrimage yet to be lived and, day after day, it would become the keeper of the fingerprints that would carve themselves into it, almost turning it into an early version of it. In turn it would support the hand, becoming a source of certainty and opening the horizon to the journey. How much wisdom there is in that staff! It speaks of the need for a guide to direct one's steps, the need for support in weariness, the need for a bulwark of defense against the attack of wild beasts. How many memories of gratitude, cities crossed, sanctuaries visited, names of kind people who opened their homes and offered a glass of water or wine.

One staff, many staffs... becoming a forest of staffs on the road, among which there is room for yours as well... if you accept its invitation.
